ISLAMABAD: The Society of Emergency Physicians Pakistan (SEPP) has strongly stressed the need for revamping current emergency departments' system and deploying well-trained emergency physicians in all public and private sector hospitals across Pakistan.
They urged upon the government to truly patronize emergency departments as these emergency departments are the first place where a patient's life can be saved by providing prompt and accurate medical care, thus decreasing overall healthcare burden of the state.
The first ever meeting of SEPP northern chapter held at Shifa International Hospital (SIH) on Thursday decided to actively campaign for promoting this new and very crucial field as an acknowledged specialty in the country.
Programme Director Emergency Medicine (SIH) Dr. Abdus Salam Khan said that emergency medicine is an emerging field and very new specialty in Pakistan. Recently, the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has recognized it for postgraduate training.–Staff Reporter
