13 proclaimed offenders arrested in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi - Police along with other security agencies carried out a search operation in various parts of the city to maintain law and order on occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The search operation was conducted on the orders of City Police Officer Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi in Potohar and Rawal Divisions, informed a police spokesman.

According to him, police teams along with personnel of Special Branch and other security agencies conducted a search operation in limits of Potohar and Rawal Divisions. During the operation, a total of 262 houses have been checked while 2627 persons were interrogated, besides verifying their data, he said.

He informed that police arrested 13 proclaimed offenders and registered cases against 16 tenants under Punjab Temporary Residence Information Ordinance 2015. He further said 10 persons were also held on charges of keeping illegal weapons while 10 pistols and 30 rounds were also recovered from their possessions. A drug peddler was also nabbed by police during search operation, he said. Police apprehended 2 goat thieves and recovered 3 sheep from their possession. Separate cases were registered against them while further investigation was under way.

On the other hand, unknown auto-theft gang lifted two cars and one motorcycle from different parts of the city while robbers snatched official cell phone from an inspector of health department.

According to details, Muhammad Asif lodged a complaint with police station Westridge that his Honda civic car (RLD-4924) has been theft from Rafeh Mall on Peshawar Road. One Waqas Mehmood’s Mehran car (RDL-4334) was pilfered outside Al-Janat Mall in Saddar, the area of PS cantonment where Honda motorcycle (KGO-2335) of Malik Ishfaq was stolen from Holy Family Hospital (HFH). On complaints of victim owners, police registered cases against vehicle lifters.

Aman Ullah, an inspector in health department, appeared before PS Airport and lodged complaint that he was performing dengue duty in area of Rahimabad when four persons came and snatched his official cell phone and ran away. He appealed police to lodged case against the robbers. A husband namely Amir Mehmood accused his wife of stealing Rs 5,94,000 cash and gold from his house after dozing him with some intoxicated stuff.

Muhammad Mehmood Ahmed tendered an application before PS Civil Line officials stating unknown robbers took away his laptop, tablet and other valuables by smashing the doors of his room. Police registered cases against the robbers and launched investigation.
