NDMA launches relief operation in G-B

ISLAMABAD - The National Disaster Management Authority has initiated relief operation to meet food shortage in Gilgit-Baltistan due to blocked of road network. The Authority started the operation with the assistance of the G-B government the Pakistan Air Force (PAF)
In order to assess on-ground situation, Chairman NDMA Major General Asghar Nawaz yesterday visited G-B and met Chief Minister G-B and other officials to coordinate relief efforts in wake of closure of KKH and restoration of road network connecting G-B.
In this regard, total of four C-130 sorties carrying relief goods have so far been sent to G-B. The relief consignment comprised wheat flour, children milk powder and other dry ration besides 550 shelters and 350 blankets. Further flights have also been scheduled to send ration to G-B till opening of KKH.
The NDMA is in constant coordination with the G-B government to provide all possible assistance in this regard. The NDMA is continuously monitoring the situation and is in constant coordination with NHA and FWO to ensure early opening of the blocked roads.
