Expenditures of info ministry cut: Pervaiz

ISLAMABAD - A meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting was held here on Monday with Marvi Memon in chair.
Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid told the committee that lavish expenditures have been curbed in the ministry. He‚ however‚ said there was no curtailment in the allocations for welfare of the employees. The minister said misuse of medical facility would not be allowed. He said Balochistan Government is undertaking repair work at Quaid’s Ziarat Residency.
Secretary Information Nazir Saeed told the meeting that the budget of the ministry for the current year was Rs 6.19 billion but after 30 per cent cut it was reduced to Rs 5.8 billion.  He said no new vehicle or furniture was purchased. The ministry has ensured fiscal discipline.
The Secretary said posts of Press Attaches at Jakarta‚ Kuala Lumpur and Kuwait have been abolished as part of the austerity measures. He said dues on account of advertisements are being cleared under directions of the minister.
