Fazl writes to ECP about rigging complaints

islamabad -  JAVAID-UR-RAHMAN -

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, on Monday complaining about rigging in few seats of Fata and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded re-polling in those constituencies.
“We demand immediate re-polling in certain polling stations because of heavy rigging. All those officials who delayed results up to 48 hours and were involved in serious irregularities should be punished,” said Fazl in a letter to Fakhuruddin G Ebrahim.
He mentioned in his letter that staff has been intimidated and tied with ropes in several cases. Polling stations were taken over by armed men and boxes have been snatched as well, the JUI-F chief added.  “We believe these incidents occurred in NA-41, NA-43, NA-46, NA-47, NA-10, and NA-11,” he said in a letter, adding he believed the Governor KPK had a direct hand in these arrangements, and he was acting on behalf of President Zardari. He said that it would have been far better if JUI-F concerns had been addressed prior to elections and the results would have been fair and transparent. “So, we demand immediate re-polling in certain polling stations in these NA seats. He further said that all those officials who delayed results up to 48 hours and were involved in serious irregularity should be punished. “We are within our right to raise these complaints with the Supreme Court if we do not get justice from the ECP and tribunals,” he maintained.
