ISLAMABAD - Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad Monday granted exemption to former president Pervez Musharraf from appearing before the court for one day in judges' detention case.
ATC Judge Atiq-ur-Rehman, who conducted the hearing of the case, directed Musharraf to appear before the court on the next date of hearing while giving him exemption from appearing before the court for one day in this case.
Musharraf's counsel appeared before the court and submitted his new medical report seeking exemption for his client from appearing before the court.
He informed that Musharraf was suffering from pain in his backbone and doctors have advised him not to travel for four weeks and take rest due to which he could not appear before the court.
Besides, the counsel stated that Musharraf was facing life threats from banned outfits and government should make comprehensive arrangements in this regard.
He argued that charges had been framed against his client therefore he should be exempted from appearance before the court.
However, public prosecutor Aamir Nadeem Tabish opposed the exemption, saying the disease is not much serious.
He added that the accused was not appearing before the court on the pretext of sickness. Therefore, he requested the court to take action against Musharraf and his guarantors for his continuous absence from the court proceedings.
At this moment, Musharraf's counsel informed the court that it is likely that Musharraf would come to Islamabad on November 3 and they had also written a letter to IG Islamabad police to make security arrangements for his appearance before the court.
He prayed to the court to grant one-day exemption to Musharraf from appearing before the court. After hearing the arguments, the ATC judge granted him exemption for one day and deferred the hearing till November 3 for further proceedings in this connection.
ATC summons MusH in Bugti case
INP adds from Quetta:  A hearing of late Nawab Muhammad Akbar Bugti murder case was held at Anti-Terrorism Court Quetta on Monday.
The Special Court judge Nazir Ahmed Langov heard the proceedings.
The court accepted an application regarding exemption of former President Pervez Musharaf before the court for Monday and directed him to appear before the court during next hearing.
The former Balochistan Home Minister Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani appeared before the court.
Later the case was adjourned till 10th of next month.
