Overseas Pakistanis to use vote right in next polls: Khursheed

ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah said that Overseas Pakistanis would exercise their right of vote in next elections. Addressing the ground-breaking ceremony of OPF Valley Zone-V, Islamabad, held here on Thursday, the minister said that long outstanding demand of Overseas Pakistanis for exercising their right of vote in election has been acceded by the present democratic government and in this connection mechanism would be evolved in the consolation with Election Commission. Federal Minister for Information Technology Qamar Zaman Kaira, Federal Minister for Food and Narcotizes Control Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Secretary Labour, Manpower Malik Asif Hyat, Managing Director of OPF Syed Nayyar Husnain Haider, Deputy Director General, Deputy Director General FWO, Brig. Munawar Hayat Khan Niazi, various members of OPF Board of Governors, Senior Officials of OPF, FWO and employees of OPF attended the ceremony, Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah said that OPF awarded contract of development work to Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) at the cost of Rs 2.404 billion. He said under this contract FWO would complete infrastructure of Water Supply Construction of Roads and Sewerage. He said that development work of this valley would be completed within 30 month. The minister said that the plots of this scheme would be offered to Overseas Pakistanis, who have been waiting for the last 14 years. He said that this scheme was delayed due to various disputes, but he took up this issue after assuming the charge as Minister and ordered for its resolution. He appreciated the role of OPF Board of Governors, who supported to remove the hurdles. Khursheed Shah lauded the contribution of Overseas Pakistan, who have been remitting their valuable earnings to Pakistan, which caused strengthening the economy. He said more than 6 billion US $ remittance, are in fact tangible support to our economy. He stressed the Overseas Pakistan to continue remitting of their earning through banking channels. The minister said that there had been 20% concession in tuition fee for the children of Overseas Pakistanis in past, which has been enhanced upto 50% recently. He said that salary package of OPF educational institutions has been made better to attract qualified teachers as well as extending incentive to present teaching strength. He also announced one bonus to the employees of OPF. The Managing Director Syed Nayyer Husnain Haider said in his welcome a address that OPF had already completed various housing schemes at Lahore, Gujrat, Larkana, Dadu, Turbat and Mirpur(A.K). He said that OPF valley Zone-V consisting of 5000 Kanal land is a mega housing project, which is a mile stone to meet the residential needs of Overseas Pakistanis. He said this scheme would be an attractive because of its features with advanced facilities. Managing Director OPF said that OPF has been providing various welfare services to the Overseas Pakistanis and their families in Pakistan. He said under OPF financial Aid scheme, Rs. one lack is granted as financial aid to family of deceased and disabled Overseas Pakistanis.
