Robbers deprive Saudi return of 23,000 riyals

Rawalpindi - An expatriate was robbed by three men, one of them dressed in police uniform, here at Rawat on Saturday.
Haji Riaz, who is settled in Saudi Arabia, returned Pakistan to spend vacations with his family in Dhulia, Jattan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. As he left the Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) on his arrival from Damam through flight number PK-248, three men riding in a car intercepted them in Rawat.
Haji Riaz, the victim, appeared before police and told that one occupants of white corolla car wearing Punjab police uniform stepped down and asked them that they wanted to search them as they were smuggling arms in the country. During course of search, he added, the men snatched his wallet containing 23,000 Saudi riyals. Later they fled towards Mandra.
Rawat police instead of filing the case sent the victims to Sihala police station, saying the incident had not occurred in their jurisdiction. Unfortunately, Sihala police high-ups also refused to entertain the victim and sent them back to Rawat.
It may be noted that for the last many months expatriates arriving from abroad in the city have been looted by armed men wearing police uniform. Police have failed in arresting the robbers.
