Saira seeks ulema part in war on polio

 ISLAMABAD - Polio case count rose to 82 on Saturday on the eve of International Ulema Conference being held to call on Muslims to join hands in eradication of polio from Pakistan and the Muslim world.
Wild type-1 polio paralysed four more children from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) who were not vaccinated against the disease. The new victims of polio included Fahad, Maanofia, Shumaila and Yasir.
Fahad, son of Zaman Khan, is an 11-month-old male child. He is a resident of area Ghundai, village Karoonkhel Bakarabad Pump, tehsil Jamrud, Khyber Agency. Maanofia, daughter of Saidullah, is a 34-month-old female child. She is a resident of village Tortangai, tehsil Miran Shah, North Waziristan Agency.
Shumaila, daughter of Naib Khan, is a 04-month-old female child. She is a resident of village Manzar Khel, tehsil Miran Shah. The fourth child Yasir, son of Israr, is an 18-month-old male child. He is a resident of area Milward, village Maddakhel tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency.
Out of 82 polio cases, 64 are from FATA (NWA 53, SWA 05, Khyber 04, FR Bannu 02), 12 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar 04, Bannu 08), 6 from Sindh (Karachi).
Meanwhile, a two-day International Ulema Conference is being held today (Sunday) by the ministry of national health services, regulations and coordination, World Health Organisation and Islamic Bank.
Over 50 national religious scholars and key international Islamic scholars from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other Muslim countries will be attending the conference to deliberate on child health in the context of Islamic injunctions.
