SCBA polls: IHC moved against alleged rigging

Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday served notices on the attorney general of Pakistan (AGP), newly-elected president of Supreme Court Bar Association and a returning officer of SCBA election after a petitioner adopted before the IHC that rigging was done in the bar elections.
A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah issued the notices on a petition of Abdus Sattar Khan, who was also a candidate for the slot of president in the election. In his petition, Khan alleged before the IHC bench that the rigging was done in the counting of votes. Therefore, he prayed to the court to order recounting of the votes. After issuing the notices to the respondents, Justice Minallah deferred the hearing till November 17 for further proceedings.
