Rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja directed the police officers of region to prohibit setting up camps to collect “Fitrana” or donation money anywhere in their areas.
He warned the police officers of strict departmental action in case of violation.
RPO issued these instructions while chairing a high level meeting held in his office on Wednesday to devise comprehensive security plan to guard Juma-tul-Wida, Chand Raat and gatherings of Eid-ul-Fitr in the region.
The meeting was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO)/SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, District Police Officers (DPOs) of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal and DSP Traffic.
Addressing the meeting, RPO Wisal Raja asked all the police officers to discourage all the elements, which wanted to establish camps to collect “Fitrana” or donation money ahead of Eid. He added that the violators should be arrested and put behind the lock ups. He said that action would be taken against the police officers if any camp found in their precincts.
RPO also ordered police to make foolproof security arrangements to protect the devotees on Juma-tul-Wida and during Nimaz-e-Eid and people on Chand Raat in the regions. “Police should utilize all available resources to guard the people,” he said.
He said that all the mosques, Imambargahs and other worship places should be provided a complete security blanket and no one should be allowed to go in without proper body search.
The police should also hold meetings with the people of the areas where Eid Nimaz scheduled to be held open air and cordon these areas with barbwires of tents besides making only one entry gate for public. “The volunteers and security should check the people with metal detectors,” RPO said.
The parking lots should also be made at a good distance from mosques and imambargahs, RPO said adding that the entry of cycles, motorcycles and vehicles should also be banned.
The numbers of police pickets should be enhanced while patrolling process should also be made more affective in the region on eve of Eid.
RPO asked the police to provide security to shoppers specially women and girls in all the markets and bazaars and keep a vigil on rotten eggs and action should be taken against them if they misbehaved with females. He was of view that special squads should also be constituted to attest one-wheelers from city’s roads.
In order to purge the region from suspected elements, RPO said, door-to-door search operations should also be carried out in all the areas including Afghan infested Katchi Abadis to maintain law and order situation in the region.
RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja asked the district as well as Tehsil administrations to provide food to all the security personnel on their duty places during Eid holidays.
