15 players confirm entry in Pakistan Open Squash

ISLAMABAD - As many as 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the forthcoming Pakistan Open Squash Championship scheduled to be held from November 8 to 15, as the last entry date is October 20. An official of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) told The Nation on Wednesday that they were looking for top ranking players for this mega event. "The Pakistan Open is pursing prize money of US$85,000 and it is attractive for the international players. Although, there are security concerns of overseas players, but the PSF will provide them full security during the championship," he said. He further said that the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Tennis Tournament had got underway at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex and over 50 foreign players were fighting for the top honour without any fear. "There is no threat for the players in Pakistan. The PSF will provide high alert security to the overseas players during the Pakistan Open Squash Championship 2008," he viewed. He said that players from Australia, England, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Mexico, Germany, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Ireland, Austria, South Africa Netherlands, Wales and Guyana would take part in the championship. "We are expecting that other top ranking squash players of the world will visit Islamabad for the Pakistan Open," he hoped. "We are also expecting a good number of entries for the Chief of Naval Staff International Squash Championship that will be played at Karachi from November 3 to 8 this year. Overseas players are keen to visit Karachi for CNS Squash Championship," he concluded.
