ISLAMABAD  – Islamabad High Court has sought response in two weeks from concerned parties in the case regarding appointment of Major General Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Gen (Retd) Ch Mohammad Nawaz.
The employees of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) had lodged the writ petition against the allegedly un-constitutional appointment of the 73 Years old Ex-Army Major General as the officiating chairman of PRCS.
Acting on the petition IHC Judge Justice Riaz Ahmed Ahmed Khan has sent notices to the principal secretary (PS) to Prime Minister, president secretariat, PS to Advisor Ministry for National Regulations and Services as well as appointed Major General PRCS, and sought their response in two weeks. The court, in its notice to officiating chairman, had asked him to appear in front of the court and provide response to the 21 grounds based writ petition.
The primary stance of the employees is that the constitution of the PRCS is utterly violated i.e. the president of Pakistan, who is also the president of PRCS, in pursuance to the constitution of PRCS, nominates the chairman who is then endorsed by the PRCS management body. However in this matter the (Retd) General is appointed as officiating chairman, which has no constitutional pursuance.
Furthermore the employees informed the media that Ch Muhammad Nawaz is member of PRCS managing body for the last seven years and has made no contribution in bringing the partners or any grant that is the primary responsibility of the members of the managing body. The employees of PRCS are determined to protect the constitution and will exhaust all possible means to protect the organisation from the un-constitutionally appointed officiating chairman.
