rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized huge quantity of narcotics weighing 6.95 tons in 17 operations conducted across the country, informed ANF HQ spokesman yesterday.
According to him, the seized drugs included 1.098 ton heroin, 5.8 ton hashish and 35.8-kg opium. During these operations, 20 persons including two ladies involved in drug trafficking were arrested while four vehicles were impounded, he said. He added that ANF also apprehended 5 absconders in a special drive. These operations were carried out at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Kohat, Peshawar, Karachi and Qilla Abdullah, Separate cases have been lodged against the detained suspects while further investigation was on, he informed.
Meanwhile, Chief Traffic Officer Sardar Dr Ghias Gull has directed traffic police officers to perform duties diligently and make the commuters and road users to obey traffic rules.
“All the traffic officers and wardens should explore possibilities to ease traffic flow in all the intersections,” he said. According to a press release issued yesterday, CTO Dr Ghias Gull asked the traffic police officers and wardens to perform their duties with commitment and dedication and facilitate the commuters and road users.
He said that no negligence of any warden would be tolerated and strict departmental action would be initiated against the guilty wardens.
