ISLAMABAD - Pakistan crossed last year's total count of 93 polio cases in 2013 as three new polio cases surfaced on Wednesday.Hajira, a 14-month-old female child of Khyber Agency, paralysed because of non-vaccination against the disease. Habib, a 6-month-old male child and resident of Peshawar, contracted polio due to refusal to vaccination. The third child who fell prey to the disease was Rehmatullah, a-21-month-old male child, resident District Sanghar. Now the caseload has risen to 94 with Federally Administered Tribal Areas, 70 cases (NWA 55, SWA 05, Khyber 08 and FR Bannu 02), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16, (Peshawar 06, Bannu 09 and Mardan 01), Sindh, 08, (Karachi 07, and Sanghar 01).Three cases of polio were reported Monday. All three cases have been reported from Khyber Agency. The affected are identified as five-year-old Sumbal, one-year-old Simran – both belonged to Tehsil Bara – and 1.5-year-old Ibraheem from Kaddan Meeran Khail.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
