ISLAMABAD - Following intelligence reports, Islamabad capital police have arrested an eight-member gang of criminal involved in the assassination of former federal minister Shahbaz Bahtti.
According to official sources, the arrest was made on September 12. However, media was not informed due to some reason. The Islamabad capital police could only succeed in arresting the accused following secret agencies reports.
“A prompt action by the police following secret agencies reports made the arrest of highly trained accused possible. The police raided different places in Islamabad to get hold of the gang,” a source said.
He added that the gangsters have confessed murder of the former minister and many other heinous crimes including activities of terrorism. The group, they said, was involved in various incidents of murders and robberies in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Shahbaz Bhatti was killed in the I-8/3 area of Islamabad in 2011 by three unidentified gunmen.
