Joint session resumes today

ISLAMABAD- The longest ever joint session of the parliament after a weeklong break will resume today to witness fiery speeches against protesting parties (PAT & PTI) and government’s slow response to the miseries of flood-affected people of the country.
The government side will share details of rescue operation efforts in the flood-hit areas, while it might not rush to brig any resolution in the house before the Supreme Court (SC) verdict on the case being heard about any unconstitutional step in the country.
The remaining lawmakers, following party lines, mostly from backbenches, will speak on the prevailing political situation by criticizing both Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri. As, main legislators both from treasury and opposition benches have already expressed their displeasure against the sit-ins at the Constitutional Avenue. The joint session, summoned a joint session of the Parliament on September 2, has so far discussed possible ways to end the ongoing political standoff due to the two protesting parties.
Apart from sharing details about flood-hit areas, the government side will take the house into confidence about all the possible measures and the steps so far taken to defuse the tension.
Sources said that the government, with the support of other political parties, had earlier intended to bring a strong-worded resolution against the marchers, however, it deferred the move.
