Funeral prayer of martyred SDPO offered

RAWALPINDI - The Rasm-e-Qul of Lt Gen (Retd) Hameed Gul, former director general of Inter-Services Intelligence, was held here at his residence yesterday.
The participants recited the Holy Quran and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
The prominent among those who attended the Rasm-e-Qul were AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, former Chiefs of Army Staff (COAS) Gen (Retd) Mirza Aslam Baig and Gen (Retd) Abdul Waheed Kakar, Gen (Retd) Muhammad Yusaf, Maj Gen (Retd) Mehmood Durrani, and chief of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat Maulana Ahmed Ludhyanvi. Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Gul, the son of the former DG ISI, said that commitment of his father about Islam, Pakistan, Kashmir and Afghanistan was very clear and he would continue his mission.
He said the deceased contributed a lot for the welfare of the country.
Meanwhile, the funeral prayer of a police officer who was killed in the Attock suicide attack, was offered here at Rawat yesterday.
Syed Shaukat Ali Shah Gilani, a sub-divisional police officer, was killed along with Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada and 17 others in the suicide attack in Rawat on Sunday.
Top police bosses of Rawalpindi division, besides a large number of relatives of the deceased and notables of the area, attended the prayer. Later the dead body of martyred SDPO Gilani was laid to rest with full police honours at his ancestral graveyard in village Haraka. The funeral took place amid tight security.
