RAWALPINDI - Encroachments, a phenomenon all over the country, have increased in various markets and bazaars of Chaklala Cantonment allegedly in connivance with Rawalpindi cantonment staff, causing disruption of traffic.
According to sources, the Rawalpindi cantonment bazaars and markets give picture of fish market, as encroachers are occupying major parts of the roads but the concerned officials do not visit the bazaars and markets and submit reports to the higher authorities that they have ended encroachments in the areas. Different areas of Chaklala Cantonment Board including Jhanda Chichi Bazaar, Scheme III, Commercial area, Dhairry Hassan Abad, Tahli Mohrri, Chongi No:22, Adyala Road and Sirs Syed Chowk are in tight grip of encroachment, while, the anti-encroachment staff of the city administration has vanished.
The traders have placed their equipments and objects outside their shops while handcart pushers are wandering without any fear and impunity causing disruption in flow of traffic and movement of pedestrians.
The citizens expressing their resentment said that CEO Cantt should visit these areas so that he would better understand the problems of citizens. They demanded of the CEO to take effective measures to end encroachments in the areas.
