Int’l Scientific Conference of RMC commences

Rawalpindi - The 2nd International Scientific Conference of Rawalpindi Medical College 2015 commenced in the New Teaching Block of RMC in Holy Family Hospital yesterday.
More than 50 ex-medical graduates of RMC were participating in the conference along with a number of senior experts, doctors, trainees, medical students. Addressing the inaugural ceremony the Chairman Metro Bus Project Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that Rs2 billion has been spent on up-gradation projects of teaching hospitals.
He said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has provided substantial funds for repair, expansion and improvement development schemes of teaching hospitals in Rawalpindi and after completion Rawalpindi Cardiology Institute at a cost of Rs3 billion, the under construction Institute of Urological would be completed up to October 2016 with estimated cost of Rs3.5 billion.
He said Rs100 million have been spent on construction of new Emergency of Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
He acknowledged the contributions of Chairman Board of Management Dr Muhammad Aslam who had not only made it possible to get funds from the government but also managed substantial donations privately to initiate patient welfare projects in three teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi.
The Chairman Board of Management Rawalpindi Medical College and Allied Hospitals Dr Muhammad Aslam welcomed the teaching fraternity of international repute in the conference to deliberate on important subject to share their knowledge and experience with young professionals.
He said efforts were being made to make all hospitals financially strong so that they could manage better health care facilities. He also mentioned ongoing development projects for additional facilities in teaching hospitals. The Principal Rawalpindi Medical College and Allied Hospitals, Prof Muhammad Umar said presented a detailed report on development initiatives said that three teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi had been made a role model in term of provision of state of the art medical treatment facilities. He briefed about the contributions of ex medical graduates residing in different countries for provision of modern treatment facilities in the hospitals. Prof. Umar said that a record amount of funds had been spent on improving the services in teaching hospitals and we are conducting most modern procedures free of cost. He said services of renowned medical professionals had been attained free of cost for establishing new faculties to promote modern treatment methods of treatment. Professor of Surgery, Dr. Jhangir Sarwar presenting vote of thanks said that Rawailians has make tremendous contribution besides their physical participation in the scientific conference which encouraged young doctors.
