ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Health Services (DHS) is continuing with its move for provision of hygienic foodstuff for residents of Islamabad.Special DHS teams are in action against hotels, restaurants, shops and stalls operating in breach of principles of public health. Legal action is also being taken against the violators. Special purpose teams of DHS, in this regard inspected many food outlets in different areas of the city during the last week and issued notices to 85 food outlets including restaurants, stalls, hotels and shops while 227 challans were also issued. The DHS inspection teams confiscated 30 utensils, 45 litres drinking water, 50 packets of non-branded snacks and 20 litres ketchup. Entire confiscated stuff was either substandard or expired and was destroyed afterwards.The member administration CDA has directed DHS to be persistent and steadfast with its initiative against sale of substandard and unhygienic foodstuff in the city. Indiscriminate action as per law should be made sure against the non-observance of principles of public health. The transgressors should be brought to justice.
