Islamabad - The offices of Capital Administration Development Division (CADD) and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) were stormed with the protesters demanding resolution of their issues.
Around three-dozen employees claiming to be daily-wagers stormed into the CADD to demand the release of their salaries and regularisation of their services. The employees chanted slogans against the government and the CADD for not paying any heed towards their issues. They also shouted “GO Nawaz Go” at the CADD office.
The CADD state minister called them to listen to their grievances. But a group of daily-wage staff denied having any association with them. Later, a group of daily wagers also went to meet FDE officials to discuss the same issue. They said the daily-wagers stormed into CADD had some hidden agenda and they did not inform them about the protest. “We are fighting for our rights in a peaceful manner and what happened at CADD has nothing to do with us. We condemn this act. The minister is already trying to resolve the issues of the staff working on daily wages,” said Ihsan Bangsh, one of the daily wage teachers, who is a leading representative of the daily wagers.
According to information, nearly 1,800 daily wage teaching and non-teaching staff have been waiting for their regularisation and release of their salaries. They have been facing issues in release of salaries since the collection of college fund from students was barred from which they were paid. Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim chaired a meeting regarding the issue of daily wagers’ regularisation. He met the representative of teachers (daily-wagers) and informed them about the IHC’s decision on the process of regularisation.  “We have done what we could do to address the grievances of the daily wagers. Salary issue of the daily wagers has already been resolved. Moreover, the regularisation issue would be resolved accordingly,” said the minister of state.
The minister again asked the secretary establishment to expedite the process and has assured the daily wagers that he would pursue this case himself.
Non-teaching staff of FDE also refused to work owing to their promotion issue. They virtually brought to halt the official work at the FDE. Non-teaching staff of schools and colleges also joined them and demanded the reinstatement of sacked employees.
“Nearly 466 non-teaching employees were sacked and new appointments were made on their posts. They must be reinstated,” demanded non-teaching staff association’s General Secretary Imran Mughal. He said nearly 27 employees, who had been working at FDE, were waiting for their promotions. The process has been completed but the officials are delaying notifications.
