Foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit has turn down the perception of any trust deficit prevailing between the donor countries and the Pakistani government. He informed that Pakistan is receiving generous contributions from all forums including the OIC, Friends of Pakistan and the UN. Abdul Basit made these remarks during the weekly press briefing in Islamabad. He notified that Pakistan has received aid from 70 countries and the UN so far. He added that aid is now flowing in at a much better pace as compared to the past. Basit said that Paksitan has so far received $220 million. He confessed that certain extremist groups are also taking part in the relief and rescue operations. He said that it is the prime responsibility of the government to reach out to the flood victims however the NGOs are also actively participating in relief and rescue works.
