JC delays reappointments of adhoc judges

A meeting of the Judicial Commission on Saturday delayed the reappointments of Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday and Justice Rehmat Hussain Jafri as ad hoc judges of the Supreme Court, report said. The commission met in Islamabad to consider reappointments of the two judges as well as nine other judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC). Earlier, on February 14, an announcement by the Supreme Court had said that Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had proposed to request Justice Ramday and Justice Jafri to rejoin the bench as ad hoc judges, which was unanimously agreed. The courts February 14 notification had stated that the two judges had accepted the proposal in wider institutional interest.
