Capital parks need attention

Islamabad - The deserted look and broken condition of swings, benches and boundary walls in the parks of the federal capital need immediate attention of the authorities concerned.
The residents of the federal capital demanded more parks to be built in the area as the city lacks the public parks, while existing parks are with broken swings, benches, lack of toilets and other issues and need immediate up-gradation.
“The people who come here along with their children and other family members are shocked when they have to buy items at elevated prices available in the parks. Moreover they have to buy tickets to enter a park to entertain their children with broken swings and slides,” a visitor said. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has fixed some amount of money for the parks but until no work has been done for the maintenance.
Saima Khalid a housewife said, “Last weekend I went to a park with my family so that my children could enjoy but unfortunately they did not enjoy due to broken swings.”
When contacted, an official of Capital Development Authority (CDA) said, “A few days back a meeting was held under the directorates in which matters regarding up-gradation of public parks were discussed in addition to renovation of parks facilities, different walking tracks in the city would also be up-graded to ensure state-of-the-art recreational and healthy facilities in all parts of the city.” The meeting decided that in addition to the developed parks, different facilities like walking tracks in the green areas will also be reconstructed.
