Two fraudsters held; one dies in mishap

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police arrested two persons including a female on the charges of depriving people of cash by enticing them to double their money, and recovered tools, chemicals and other equipment used to prepare fake currency, a police spokesman said on Friday.
According to details, Ramzan s/o Asghar Ali, resident of Bahawalnagar, lodged report with Margallah police station complaining that two people including Imran portrayed themselves as officers of intelligence agency and minted Rs 620,000 from him, besides demanding more money from him.
Following this complaint, SP (Saddar) Muhammad Ilyas constituted special team under the supervision of SHO Margallah to arrest the fraudsters. “This team acted promptly and arrested two persons Idrees and a female Shazia Begum. Police recovered tools, chemicals, white papers, files and other equipment used to prepare fake currency from their custody,” police said.
According to police, accused confessed that they have an office for recruitment of security guards in Dhok Syedan area of Rawalpindi and they used to give fake advertisement in various newspapers for lucrative posts and then deprive people of cash after cheating them.
Police obtained three-day physical remand of the accused while efforts are being made to arrest their other accomplices.
Meanwhile on Friday, one passenger was killed while two other sustained injuries as a trailer carrying huge container overturned over a taxi in the jurisdiction of Sabzi Mandi police station.
According to police, one passenger died on the spot while two others got injuries and were rushed to PIMS where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Police registered a case against the driver and started investigating the case.
