ISLAMABAD - Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, on Tuesday again asked the government to explain its position over $1.5 billion bailout package recently received from a Muslim country.
“If this $1.5 billion is a gift then it should be mentioned in Guinness World Records,” said Shah while talking to media persons in his chamber.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should take the house into confidence about this package in the upcoming session of National Assembly. He further said even the statements of ruling party’s lawmakers on this package were different.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) raising questions on $1.5 billion package has already moved an adjournment motion in the National Assembly and Senate to discuss whether the bailout package is result of a compromise on the country’s existing policy on Syria.
To a question about the appointment of chief election commissioner, Shah said that the PM would propose names for the slot.
“I will not give name but will wait for the government’s proposed names for this slot,” he said, adding the government should wait for parliamentary committee’s report or propose new names for CEC.
Shah also came down hard on Nisar for latter’s statement over Islamabad district court attack. Nisar had told the NA that Justice Rafaqat was mistakenly killed due to firing of his own guard. “Ch Nisar should clear his position as it was irresponsible statement,” Shah said.
