Islamabad - The federal government Wednesday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that it has constituted a committee, which will be notified in two days, to examine the ongoing regularisation of the contractual and daily wage employees.
In this regard, Additional Secretary Cabinet Khusro Pervez appeared before a division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamir Farooq and told the court about the government’s decision to form a committee in this matter. He also said that committee will not only examine the cases of contractual and daily wage employees of the federal government (FG) for regularisation but it will also examine irregularities in regularisation process of already regularised employees.
He stated this before a dual bench of IHC which was hearing an intra-court appeal (ICA) against a verdict of a single bench of IHC dated May 29, 2014 that had declared the recommendations of PPP government’s subcommittee for regularization of the contractual and daily wage employees as null and void. The ICA was filed in June 2014 against the single bench order and on June 16, 2014 an IHC division bench  suspended the single bench order.
 that had annulled the recommendations for 125,000 contractual and daily wage employees of the federal government.
The petitioners who are federal government employees moved the ICA through their counsel Shoaib Shaheen Advocate and contended that single bench’s order is affecting lives of around 1,25,000 regular employees.
Previously on May 29, 2014, an IHC single bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui had directed all the institutions/organizations of the federal government to properly examine and verify record of the regularized employees and only endorse the regularization of those employees who fulfil the criteria in respect of educational qualification, experience, age and domicile.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the additional secretary cabinet informed the court that the federal government would apprise the court after examining cases for regularization.
Later, the IHC dual bench deferred the hearing for further proceedings in this matter with date in office.
