Pakistan for peaceful ties with neighbours: Tanveer

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that Pakistan believes in the policy of peaceful co-existence and non-interference regarding neighbouring countries.
He made the remarks during his meeting with State Secretary for Defence, Policy and Planning Valeriu Nicut and Chief of General Staff, at the Ministry of National Defence, Romania, Lt Gen. Stefan Danila on the second day of the Black Sea Xefence and Areo Apace Conference.
He said Pakistan was faced with challenges from the neighbouring countries. However, “Pakistan believes in the policy of peaceful co-existence and non-interference when it comes to Afghanistan or any other country.”
He said there was a need of identifying to be potential market areas to further explore fields of defence production.
Keeping in view the current international security environment, each country needed to fulfill their security needs, he added.
The Romanian State Secretary for Defence said Pakistan had gone ahead in the field of defence production over the years.
“We hope that we can utilize the advancements by striking opportunities for joint production and ventures,” he added.
He also commended the technical expertise of the people of Pakistan and said Pakistanis were talented people and his country would utilize their research and development.
Pakistan also stressed that NATO standards were being met at the defence production industries and its equipment were highly appreciated by the Romanian armed forces officials.
Later, the minister held a meeting with State Secretary for Global Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs.Carmen Lilina Burlacu.
He said Pakistan and Romania could look to further increase cooperation in trade areas other than defence production, which would help strengthen Pakistan’s relationship with Romania.
