Rawalpindi - Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed, commissioner Rawalpindi and director general Rawalpindi Development Authority, has directed to resolve immediately the procurement of glass and other materials issues faced by contractors in the construction work of metro bus project.
These directions were given to Chief Engineer RDA and Project Manager NESPAK in a meeting, which was held here on Tuesday in RDA to review the progress of Package-I and Package-III of metro bus project.
The meeting was jointly chaired by ex-MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and Capt (Retd) Zahid Saeed. Chief Engineer RDA Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Director Engineering RDA Asghar Hussain Warraich, Project Manager NESPAK Danish Raza, Mohabbat Khan from ZKB, and other relevant officers and contractors attended the meeting. It was noted that launching of girders and work on import of glass was quite slow. Relevant officials were directed to speed up the work. The director engineering was tasked to monitor the work on daily basis. The Packages-I and III were discussed threadbare. Project Manager NESPAK gave a detailed presentation on ongoing progress of the two packages.
The DG RDA reiterated the importance of speedy work and directed the contractors to work day and night. He said, “It is our collective responsibility to meet the deadline by utilising all means.”
Abbasi observed that work on packages I and III was not going on at night. He urged the contractors to use extra labour for execution of ongoing work on fast track basis as per given deadline.
The contractors assured that they would complete the ongoing work in time.
