Court grants pre-arrest bail to PML-N LB candidate

Rawalpindi - A court of law yesterday granted pre-arrest bail to PML-N candidate for Local Bodies election Asad Mehmood in a case of attack on police party.
The court ordered the candidate to submit surety bonds of Rs100,000 before the court. Earlier, Asad Mehmood had obtained pre-arrest bail from the court.
Additional and Session Judge Shazia Raja took up the case when Asad Mehmood appeared before the court through his lawyer Qosain Faisal Mufti.
Arguing before the court, Qosain advocate pleaded that his client was innocent and had not attacked the police party.
He added that he was contesting LBs polls and his opponents had roped him in a fake case to victimise him politically.
He requested the court to grant pre-arrest bail to his client. ASJ Shazia Raja after conclusion of arguments granted pre-arrest bail to Asad Mehmood and ordered him to furnish surety bonds worth Rs100,000 before court.

Earlier, Saddar Bairooni Police booked Asad along with his six companions on charges of attacking a police party on a check post at Dhamial.
Meanwhile, police launched hunt for another N-League candidate of LBs polls for the slot of vice chairman from UC 94 Chehan Sardar Waseem Babar who had been booked in land fraud case.
Talking to The Nation, SI Arfad Ahmed posted at Chowky Ranial said that the accused had not obtained pre-arrest bail from any court of law and police were raiding at different localities to arrest him.
