Pemra bans TV programme

ISLAMABAD - In compliance with the Lahore High Court orders, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has banned the anchorperson Mubashir Luqman’s programme ‘Khara Sach’ on the ARY channel.
The LHC had passed the order on the issue on October 17, 2014 in Crl.Org. No.2070-W/2014, says a statement issued here by the electronic media regulatory authority Saturday.
“The ARY News has been directed to ensure with immediate effect that the programme titled “Khara Sach” is not aired till final adjudication of the case,” it said.
The statement also directed the channel administration to ensure anchorperson of the programme, Mubashir Luqman, does not participate in any programme on ‘ARY News’ or on any other TV channel being aired in Pakistan either as a host or as an observer or as a participant.
According to the statement, the court orders have also been circulated to all the satellite TV channels (News & Current Affairs) to comply with these orders.
In case of non-compliance, the Authority would initiate an appropriate action which may lead to cancellation of TV channel’s licence or imposition of fine or both under relevant provisions of PEMRA laws, the statement concluded.
