ISLAMABAD - JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday asked the PML-N government for major overhauling of 1947 Interim Act of Azad Kashmir.“There is need of drastic efforts to amend this interim act of 1947 as after nearly 60 years it still has not been brought in line with the new realities of Azad Kashmir,” said Fazl in a letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The JUI-F chief, in a letter to PM, said that he during his visit to AJK met various political leaders, government functionaries and other stakeholders. Maulana after these interaction felt that there have been minor amendments in 1947 Interim Act but they are not drastic enough to serve the interests of different stakeholders.Maulana also mentioned his interaction with Prime Minister AJK Chaudhary Abdul Majeed saying that they agreed to work for closer cooperation between the Centre and AJK. He further stated that the resolution of the Kashmir issue is very important, as there has been a sense of increasing frustration on both sides of the LOC particularly among the youth. “They don’t want to be left in the same situation as the old generation were in,’ he added. Both the governments should work hard to work for resolution of Kashmir issue. “The PML-N government also needs to raise this issue with Indian authorities,” he added. This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
