Pakistan to play key role in post-2014 scenario: Olson

ISLAMABAD - US Ambassador to Pakistan, Richard Olson, in a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan discussed issues pertaining to bilateral relations, particularly security situation in the region.
Richard Olson called on Chaudhry Nisar here on Wednesday. The minister said that Pakistan enjoyed good relations with the US spread over all sectors and was hopeful that they would be further strengthened. He emphasised the need for greater transparency in the relationship and said it was important that people of Pakistan could see for themselves that the interests of Pakistan were being protected and safeguarded at every step.
The US Ambassador said that Pakistan had an important role to play in the post-2014 scenario in the region, which was recognised by the international community. Olson assured the minister that the US was not only conscious of Pakistan’s concerns but would do everything possible to address them. He emphasised the need for close US-Pak rapport and liaison to meet the emerging challenges for region.
