NUML, QAU students perform ‘Alif Iqbal’

Islamabad - Drama Club of Faculty of English Studies in National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in collaboration of Quaid-i-Azam University organised a play titled ‘Alif Iqbal’ in the campus.

The play is a satire on social vanities and highlights the importance of education and its role in social mobility. The story revolves around the transformation of a poor servant Bala to Iqbal and realisation of his self-consciousness or Khudi. The performance of students was appreciated by the audience including students and faculty from NUML and some other universities. The impact of the play, through the performance of students, was vivid as they used various expressionistic techniques.

Earlier the same day, the rector NUML inaugurated the creative writing boards and conferred badges on the office holders of different societies formed by FES. The event was attended by registrar, dean (FES), HoDs, and faculty of FES. The event marked a new chapter in NUML’s history serving to promote student’s creative writing skills.

Faculty of English studies has taken the initiative to launch student activities to promote versatility and creativity of students. For this purpose the faculty launched platforms for the students which included creative writing corners, English literary society, NUML Drama Club, and online literary magazine.

The chief guest of the event Prof Dr Muhammed Safeer Awan, Dean Faculty of English Studies NUML, appreciated the organisers Khadeeja Mushtaq, Gulnaz Aslam, Tayyaba Abbas and Maimoona Fida for organising the event. He emphasised the need for such literary activities to be conducted in the universities to develop academic skills, moral goodness and citizenship in the students. He motivated all the students to participate in all such activities which would open new avenues of intellectual exposure for them. At the end of the event the chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.
