ISLAMABAD - The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was held at NAB Headquarters under the chair of Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry. The meeting approved filing of two references, three investigations and four inquiries.
The EBM authorized three investigations first against Mir Shah Jahan Khetran, former MD PTDC, Saeed Abbas Ansari, General Manager PTDC and Abdul Rasool Zahidi, Manager Accounts & others. In this case the accused persons are alleged for illegal appointment of 426 persons in PTDC and illegal lease of land by violating PPRA rules. The second investigation is authorized against M/S Fateh Textile Mills Hyderabad and others. In this case the accused persons are alleged for processing fake export bills worth Rs. 490 million.
The Board also authorized inquiry into the illegal and unlawful written off loans worth Rs 840 million. Third investigation is authorized against Nawabzada Mehmood Zeb, former minister and officials of Directorate General of Mines & Mineral and officials of Administration Department KPK regarding authority in grant of prospecting License of Phosphate Mines causing loss of Rs 122.96 million to the national exchequer.
The EBM approved filing of two references; first reference was approved against Mirza Sanaullah Baig, ex-Senior Vice President National Investment Trust Ltd Karachi and four others. In this case accused persons committed a fraud of Rs 16.18 million by encashing this amount by officials of NIT, NIB and CCB.
The second reference approved against Tariq Awan, ex-Secretary Workers Welfare Board, KPK & others.
The Board also authorized four inquiries, first against Imran Khan Yousafzai, GM NHA, and contractor Muhammad Afzal Bhatti. In this case the accused persons are alleged for corruption, corrupt practices and taking bribe of Rs 5 million for awarding contract. The second inquiry is authorized against Dr. Rehan Abdul Hafiz, National Programme Manager Expanded Programme of Immunization. In this case the accused person is alleged for import of substandard and unregistered vaccines and syringes with no warranty, quality verification and with short expiry, evasion of duty and taxes payable on vaccines and syringes and cleared under the cover of Exemptions. Third inquiry is authorized against Dr. Zahid Pervez, ex-MS Mayo Hospital and others. In this case the accused person is alleged for misuse of authority.
The fourth inquiry is authorized against Dr. Zia ur Rehman ex-Chief Executive, Ayub Medical Institute Abbottabad.
