ISLAMABAD - Tribesmen on Wednesday demanded of the government for early release of one of their colleagues and a political agent of South Waziristan, Malik Saif-ur-Rehman Mehsud, who was abducted from Karachi without any lawfull authority. Addressing a press conference at National Press Club, tribesmen demanded of the government that illegal detentions of Mehsud tribe should be stopped immediately. One of the tribesmen warned that if secret agencies malicious practice continued then they would not bear it further. He said that despite the clear verdict of Peshawar High Court, government was reluctant to produce him before the court. He categorically stated that some misleading elements were using the tribesman for their vested interests. Aalmgir Khan said that Saif ur Rehman, a South Waziristan political agent, was arrested from Karachi on June 14th. He said that wrong allegations were levelled against the Mehsud tribesmen. We had great respect for the law of the land but some miscreants want to sabotage the peace efforts in the area, he said. He was of the view that without lawful authority arrest of political agent was prohibited. Responding to a question, he blamed that government intended to form lashkar against the terrorists forcefully that was counter productive.
