Govt not believes in aid but trade: PM

The Prime Minister has said that Pakistani products import by European countries was in line with the governments policy for enhanced trade with the world because the government believed in trade and not aid. The Prime Minister expressed these views during his meeting with Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister of Commerce, who called on him at Prime Ministers House here on Friday. Prime Minister asked the Minister for Commerce to take steps for higher market access for Pakistani products in existing markets as well as new markets abroad. He added that export led growth will help in employment generation and poverty alleviation. The policy, he added, will also help enable the Government to ensure early rehabilitation of flood hit people. The Prime Minister observed that National Economy was facing lots of challenges. Reiterating the policy of reconciliation, he added, the government would be able to overcome these challenges. The Government was taking all the political parties on board to have consensus on unified economic agenda to provide relief and succor to the common man, he said. The Prime Minister also asked the Minister to take all the stakeholders on board for implementation of import policy initiatives. He observed that public private partnership should be the focus of the policy. Makhdoom Amin Fahim apprised the Prime Minister of the matters pertaining to his ministry.
