LHC seeks Customs reply in Ayyan money laundering case

Rawalpindi - The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench issued notice to customs department on Friday and sought reply in two weeks in response to a writ petition filed by a model Ayyan Ali, who was arrested in a money laundering case at Islamabad airport.
The writ petition was filed by Sardar Ishaq Khan on behalf of Ayyan Ali, who is in Adyala Jail after a special court for customs, taxation and anti-smuggling rejected her bail petition.
Ayyan submitted a petition seeking bail in the LHC regarding her money-laundering case. The hearing of the petition was held by Justice Tariq Abbasi. The LHC has ordered the Customs authorities to submit a reply within two weeks. According to the petitioner’s counsel, the entire incident was wrongly covered.
Ali did not try to launder money, he added. He urged the court to release his client on immediate basis. Earlier, the Special Customs Court had rejected Ali s bail plea.
