Capital Development Authority (CDA), Directorate of Health Services, has completed high-risk mapping and campaign to destroy dengue-breeding sites in federal capital.
The CDA Health Directorate has aligned its strategy in accordance with the latest requirements and practices. The directorate has conducted an extensive exercise of the entire city to map areas, which have shown dengue positive individuals in the previous years, Deputy Director Media Malik Saleem told TheNation here on Monday.
He said those areas have been marked significantly that are known to produce conductive environment for dengue mosquito breeding. Three categories of areas have been identified; high risk, moderate risk and low risk. The strategy is to cover all these areas according to intensity, he added.
He said channelisation of the blocked nullahs and source reduction/ breeding sites have been done in sector H-8/4, I-8/2, F-11/1, H-9/3, F-11/1, F-6/2, F-11/4 F-10/3, F-10/4, F-7/4, G-6, H-9/3, G-7/2, F-11/4, G-9/3, F-11/4, G-6/1-4, G-8/1& G-7/1, I-9/4, I-11/4, G-8/4, F-10/1& F-10/2, G-11/4, H-9/3, F-11/1, F-6/2, F-11/4, F-10/3, F-10/4, H-8/4, G-7, G-7/3-1 and Katchi Abadi.
He said the directorate has initiated its third phase of larviciding campaign since March 1, 2013.
During this drive larvicides are being added in nullah/ streams, ponds and other larval habitats.
Breeding samples of mosquitoes are being collected to identify the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus.
