Saudi Arabia frees Pakistanis under arrest in drug case: Rahman Malik

Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Monday announced that Saudi Arabia government had released unconditionally five Pakistanis arrested on charges of drug smuggling. Speaking to newsmen here in the capital, the minister said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and kingdoms interior minister Prince Mohammad bin Nayef played vital role in the release of innocent Pakistanis. Expressing gratitude to Saudias royal family, Malik said Saudi Arabia is our big brother and the decision will further lead to the strengthening in ties of both the Islamic countries. A team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is being sent to Saudia to bring the victims back by 27 September, minister told the reports. Earlier, Malik called on Gilani today soon after offering Eid prayers and briefed him about the latest development on the cases of the Pakistanis detained in Saudi Arabia. He also briefed the PM about the security arrangements made on the occasion of Eid holidays. Gilani appreciated the efforts and hard work of Ministry of Interior for taking special measures regarding security arrangements on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr. The minister informed the Prime Minister that holidays of the security personnel have been canceled to ensure their presence during the Eid days so that the faithfuls could offer their Eid prayers without any fear of insecurity.
