Govt files petition for questioning Dr. Qadeer

The federal government has filed a civil miscellaneous petition with the Lahore High Court to question nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer about a media interview. The court approved the petition for hearing. According to a private TV channel, the federal government in its petition filed with the Lahore High Court argued that Dr. Qadeer has disclosed national secrets in his recent interview to Washington Post and showed irresponsible attitude. The federal government says that Dr Qadeer should not have given interviews to a foreign publication while restrictions have been imposed on him. The federal government claims that the interviews were published in the Washington post on March 10 and 14. The government has pleaded to the court to grant permission for questioning the nuclear scientist. This petition by the federal government comes at a time when the Lahore High court is to announce its reserved judgement on a petition filed by Dr Qadeer against restrictions imposed on his mobility and access to medical facilities. Dr Qadeer has denied that he has given any interview to the US media
