NAB arrests ex-secretary on corruption charges

Islamabad - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi, has arrested Rana Ghulam Murtaza, former additional secretary of Senate Secretariat of Pakistan, on charges of corruption and misuse of authority.
The accused Murtaza in connivance with other accused sold and transferred the precious land at very low price against the purchasing price of land of Senate Housing society. The accused misusing his authority transferred land of Senate Housing Society situated in Mouza Kirpa, Pind Daya, Tehlyala and Gagri without any prior approval from Circle Registrar Islamabad and caused loss to the tune of Rs 42.5 million to the society.
He neither deposited proceeds of those sales into the bank accounts of society nor informed to any authority of the society. The accused shall be produced before Accountability Court Islamabad on Thursday (today) for physical remand under NAB ordinance 1999.
