WAPDA university in capital on anvil

Islamabad - Minister of State for Federal Education Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman and Chairman WAPDA Lt Gen Muzamil Hussain yesterday held a meeting for the establishment of WAPDA University in the federal capital, which will help reduce problems of power and energy in the country.

The minister while appreciating the proposal presented by the chairman WAPDA assured the government’s support in this regard.

The chairman WAPDA said that there is a dire need of well qualified and trained human resource for WAPDA and unfortunately market has been unable to produce such qualified people for this important institute specifically. “It is the high time for us to establish an institute which would be focused only on power, energy and energy related issues,” said the chairman. He also said, “We should consider the German model (ABB, Germany) in this regard.”

Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed also gave his suggestions and said, “We should link WAPDA to engineering universities of Pakistan so that demand-driven synergy could be created among them, which is very important.” Meanwhile, in another ceremony held in PTV academy the state minister distributed certificates of middle level training amongst organizational managers.  The minister stated that media studies and related trainings are very important in this media age, and well-trained human resource is the key to success for any organization.

The minister congratulated all the participants on successfully completing the training and said, “Professional training is an ambit of our ministry; therefore, we would love to extend any support and facilitation to all the training institutes of Pakistan. There were institutes which were redundant when we took over but with the efforts in right direction we are able to make them effective again.”
