ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday categorically denied the allegations levelled by Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri that NAB has closed 143 corruption references against Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
According to a statement released by NAB, the news appeared in print and electronic media regarding allegations of influence of Prime Minister Sharif on NAB to close the corruption references is totally baseless and against the facts.
The NAB categorically refutes such reporting as patently incorrect, baseless and without any substance. The NAB wishes to assert that till date not even a single case against the Prime Minister Sharif and his family members has been closed. The NAB also wishes to assert itself as an independent and apolitical organisation. The NAB investigates and processes all cases strictly on merit, on the basis of evidence available and irrespective of the status and position of the accused, the statement concluded.
