POF remembers martyrs on anniversary

Wah cantt - The 8th death anniversary of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) martyrs has been observed with dignity and honour here yesterday.

On 21st August, 2008, 71 POF employees embarrassed martyrdom and 196 got injured in 02 suicidal attacks at POF gates. In order to pay tribute to these Shuhada, this day is observed in POF every year and a special ceremony is arranged for them. This year too, a simple and impressive function was held in order to pay homage to these Shuhada.

Chairman POF Board, Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat HI(M) was the chief guest on this occasion. Addressing on this occasion, the chairman POF Board said, “We salute to the pious souls of these POF shuhadas who laid down their lives for POF and motherland and reaffirmed the pledge that we would not let their great sacrifices to go in waste and make the defence of the motherland invincible.”

The chairman POF Board further remarked, “The coward act of the terrorists would not lessen our courage and we would continue to shoulder our responsibilities with courage, dedication and commitment.” He further mentioned, “Anti-state elements are disguising in our society and it is our obligatory duty to unveil them.

 Pakistan Armed Forces are committed to eliminate these elements and by the grace of God we would clear our land very soon from these miscreants.”

Earlier, the chairman POF board laid the floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and contingent of DSG presented salute there.

Earlier, Deputy Director Field Admin, Col Muhammad Haseeb Azam in his welcoming remarks said that under the guidelines of chairman POF Board, Shuhada Cell was providing every possible financial aid to the families of Shuhada through a transparent system. He added that POF administration was committed to resolve the problems of the families of these Shuhadas. A large number of senior civil/military officers and POF employees were present on this occasion.

The chairman POF Board enquired about the problems of the family members of Shuhada, assured them to resolve their problems at the earliest. He expressed his continued support and sympathy with them and informed them that POF administration would continue to provide every possible support to the families of Shuhada in future also.
