ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri has not only wrapped up his sit-in from the federal capital but also it seems that he has surrendered on many fronts including electoral reforms as he is ready to take part in elections even without reforms done by the government.
However, Dr Qadri Wednesday said that he will get implemented the electoral reforms through his movement and will take part in the elections. At the same time he said, "If imposed we will take part in the elections and will not let the field open for the elite".
Dr Qadri while speaking to media men, he said that he hoped his movement would lead to mid-term elections. I have called a meeting on Oct 25 in Lahore to discuss the possible measures after our sit-in and will design the next strategy," he said.
Dr. Qadri said, "We are reviewing different options and planning for an alliance before Senate elections." He said that a big alliance might also be formed ahead of the next general elections. Inqlab sit-ins and protests would continue. "I hope a situation will develop that will force govt to hold the elections."
About Imran Khan's sit-in, Qadri said that its PTI's own decision to keep 'the sit-in intact or end it. But he said that the sit-in has put the foundation for revolution in the country.
Supporters of Qadri on Wednesday packed up their tents and left for homes after he called off a sit-in protest against the PML-N government in front of the Parliament House in Islamabad.
Workers of Qadri's Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were camped outside the country's parliament building since mid of August demanding the government resign. On Tuesday, Qadri called off his sit-in protest, saying it was time to take the demonstrations countrywide.
Qadri and Imran Khan, both arrived in Islamabad in mid-August 2014 along with thousands of their supporters, with the aim of forcing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down over alleged rigging in last year's elections.
"Our protest movement has entered the next phase. Henceforth, we will stage sit-ins in every major city," Qadri said while breaking the news to his followers.
He announced that his party would hold a public meeting in Abbottabad city on Thursday.
Dr Qadri, in a bid to boost the morale of his apparently heartbroken supporters, urged them to hold their heads high as they were returning home triumphant.
