An armed group launched a brazen attack on a house within the limits of Police Station (PS) Banni killing a man and critically injuring his mother over petty dispute here on Monday. Intense firing sent waves of terror and fear in the locality.
The area people managed to catch two attackers and handed them over to police, which filed a case against the accused identified as Saddam Hussain and Ahfaq Khan and started investigation. The deceased was identified as Ashfaq Butt. Injured women Jamila Bibi was hospitalized where doctors are curing her.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) PS Banni Nadim Zafar, an exchange of hot words occurred between Ishtiaq Butt and three salesmen Ghafar Khan, Ali and Arslan Khokhar on some unknown issue near Auqaf Plaza. Ishtiaq left the scene and went into his house; he said adding that Ghaffar called his two brothers Saddam and Ashfaq from Pirwadhai to take revenge from Ishtiaq Butt.
An armed attack was carried out by the men including Saddam and Ashfaq on the house of Ishtiaq as a result of which Ishtiaq’s brother Ashfaq Butt sustained bullet injury and died. He added that a bullet also pierced in the jaws of Jamila Bibi, mother of Ishtiaq and Ashfaq.
Sounds of gun shots alerted area people who rushed to the scene and managed to overwhelm on two attackers and handed them to police. Rescue 1122 was called which shifted the dead body and injured woman to District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy and medical treatment, SHO added.
A murder case was registered while further investigation was underway, he informed.
