PESHAWAR - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan yesterday said his party would ensure transparency in award of tickets for the local government elections and nobody would be allowed to accommodate any of his relatives.
Addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister House, the PTI chairman said 55 elected representatives, including councillors, MPAs and a senator, were being probed, adding they would be expelled from the party if proven guilty. He said he was disappointed by the party councillors and MPAs over their gross violations of discipline in the local government elections.
Khan said Ziaullah Afridi had been suspended and would remain suspended until he was proven innocent. Khan, however, defended CM Pervaiz Khattak, saying he was not involved in any violation of discipline. Imran Khan said Rangers’ help had been sought in Sindh and Punjab to curb corruption, but no help had been sought in Khyber Pakhunkhwa as there was no such problem in this province.
The PTI chief said he had sought funds from the federal government to build rail tracks in the province, but the Centre was not cooperating with his party in its mission.
He complained the Centre was not giving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa its due share of natural gas royalty.
The PTI chairman said concrete steps would be taken to provide a home for street children and make them part of the society. He revealed he would set up parks and grounds in the province, besides constructing Wasim Akram Sports Academy. Sport facilities would be provided at union-council level, Khan said, adding Peshawar's T20 team deserved appreciation for its victory in the national T20 cup.
