Foolproof security for Christmas

ISLAMABAD Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam has said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for Christmas and special checking would be made outside the churches. He stated this while addressing the Christian community on Wednesday during a ceremony held at Police Line Headquarters. The Christian employees of Islamabad Police were especially invited for this ceremony. Speaking on the occasion IGP said; We are with you at this happy occasion, he added. He said that foolproof security arrangements have bee made in this regard. He said that jungle areas near the churches would be completely searched while Mobile Eagle, Falcon squads and police Commandos would ensure patrolling in these areas. The IGP said that security duty at the public places, including parks is being made more effective. APP - Preparations to celebrate the grand religious festival of Christmas have reached at its climax as Christians community has finalised the preparations for celebrating the happy occasion. They are buying cards, illuminating homes, churches and Christmas trees with colourful lights and composing songs in connection with Christmas Eve. Talking to this agency, Federal Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti said This year too, Christmas will be celebrated in the same old spirit, which kindles love and happiness. The govt has finalized security arrangements near churches to avoid any untoward situation and extending financial assistance to the oppressed segments so that they can celebrate the festival in vibrant manner. All religions are inter-linked as they give the message of love and peace and the government is striving to inculcate the message of inter-faith harmony, he said. The recent inter-faith conference held on December 18 was also a part of the efforts to promote solidarity among the people belonging to the different religions. The federal minister said that the District Inter-Faith committees will be made across the country to promote inter-religious harmony for which the meetings are being held with Ulema and scholars. The ministry has also planned to arrange National Inter-faith conference in the coming year. The minister said that he will visit Christian prisoners of Adiala Jail on December 24 to share the joys of Christmas with them. On Christmas day, he will spend time with disabled of orphanage home at Rawalpindi. When it is Christmas time, a ceremony is held in which the Prime Minister shares the Christmas joys with Christians. To mark the celebrations, a grand Christmas dinner will be held at the Presidency which will be attended by distinguished guests. Meanwhile Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minorities Chaudhry Munir elaborated that the ministry earmarks separate funds for all religious festivals of the minorities community in the country.
